Plant Accounting Manager - Consumer Manufacturing

Job Details We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Cost Accounting Manager to join our Consumer Manufacturing team. This role manages all aspects of cost accounting, including standard cost roll, multi‑level bills of materials, direct and indirect labor, overhead rates and absorption, and product cost development. Responsibilities Oversee the manufacturing cost accounting process. Utilize analytical skills for budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision‑making issues affecting the organization. Manage a small team of accounting professionals, ensuring training and development. Work closely with the manufacturing team to understand and manage production cost. Implement and maintain internal financial controls and procedures. Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant federal, state, and local regulations for financial and tax reporting. Qualifications 6+ years of progressive manufacturing cost accounting experience. Previous experience in consumer manufacturing. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, labor models, and overhead structures. Proven experience in purchase price variance, material usage variance, and labor/overhead variances. Strong analytical skills – budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and standard costing focus. Proficient in SAP or similar ERP systems. Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills. High attention to detail and accuracy, ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
