Job Overview Associate, Investing & Portfolio Management – Private (Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC, New York, New York) Responsibilities Interact with senior management at companies to build relationships and coordinate information requests needed for analysis. Conduct detailed financial analysis on privately held companies, including forecasting cash‑flow, balance sheet, and income statements, valuation, market and competitive analysis, returns analysis (including preferred equity modeling), and unit economics. Prepare detailed investment committee memos outlining key considerations and proposed terms, and present investment theses to internal committees. Perform investment‑management duties such as quarterly valuations, assessing future capital needs, supporting business development, serving on boards, and evaluating exit opportunities. Research and develop expertise across enterprise technology trends, themes, and business models. Mentor analysts and other junior team members. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Law, Legal Studies, Business Administration, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field. At least two years of experience in investment banking or related finance roles, including analysis, evaluation and execution of mid‑ and large‑cap (enterprise value ≥ $500 million) sell‑side and buy‑side transactions. Proficiency in building fully integrated cash‑flow, balance sheet and P&L financial models with accounting adjustments and probabilistic scenarios. Experience developing equity (merger & LBO) and debt transaction models, valuation analysis, and Fairness Committee models presented to board directors. Direct experience working with key stakeholders (CEOs, CFOs, finance teams) at public companies (enterprise value ≥ $1 billion). Strong skills with Thomson Reuters Eikon and Bloomberg terminals for financial analysis and benchmarking. Willingness to travel up to 40 % within North America. Salary Annual base salary range: $170,000 – $220,000 (New York, NY).
