Clinical Social Worker - MSW or LCSW

Clinical Social Worker is responsible for conducting face‑to‑face sessions with patients to complete thorough assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide supportive counseling, crisis intervention, and brief therapy. Clinical services are delivered to a caseload that can include inpatients, family members, and individuals, couples, and families. The role focuses on populations with a variety of clinical needs, including psychological stress related to health impairments, chronic illness, trauma, death and dying, marriage and family dysfunction, substance abuse, and intimate partner violence. The worker facilitates healthy boundaries, effective communication techniques, and timely, safe discharge plans. The clinician acts as a liaison between medical staff and patients/families and collaborates with all team members to maximize discharge planning and progress. The position involves supervising bachelor’s and master’s level students, participating in clinical training and supervision, public speaking to the community, and acting as a liaison to external agencies and referral sources. Responsibilities Provide direct social work services to patients, families, or groups, addressing social and practical environmental problems. Offer emotional support to patients and families who may exhibit anxiety and stress due to illness or hospitalization. Conduct interventions based on needs identified during initial assessment. Advocate for patient and family wishes when appropriate. Educate patients and families about the intent of interventions. Inform the care team, patient, and family of anticipated post‑discharge needs. Maintain knowledge of resources to ensure continuity of care before and after discharge. Participate in in‑service and staff‑development activities, serve on planning committees, and offer educational topics. Document all activities relevant to casework, discharge planning, and follow‑up in accordance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements. Participate in education and research activities. Act as therapist in daily therapy sessions and provide individual counseling or problem‑solving sessions as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Education: Master’s degree in Social Work from a CSWE‑accredited program. Experience: No specific experience required; experience in health‑care settings is preferred. Licensure: Expectation to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) under departmental guidelines. Physical Demands Requires prolonged sitting, standing, traveling, and use of assistive devices to climb stairs or steps. Proficient in communication, auditory and visual skills; able to lift, push, or pull less than 20 lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease. Base salary: $57,907.20 annually. Compensation may vary with qualifications, experience, and education.
