Vice President, Underwriting Support Manager

Job DescriptionSompo has a unique opportunity for a VP, Underwriting Support Manager in our North America Property Team.The Underwriting Support Manager will be responsible for managing a team of underwriting support staff, ensuring proper processes and workflows are in place. They will also be responsible for meeting monthly premium bookings and working closely and effectively with various partners such as underwriting, CAT team, centralized support groups, claims and more.Location: This position can be based out of any of our Sompo offices such as New York, NY, Chicago, IL, Alpharetta, GA, San Francisco, CA or Los Angeles, CA. We strive for collaboration which is why we offer a work environment where our employees thrive and develop long-lasting careers.What you’ll be doing:Manage a team of people managers and underwriting associates which will include hiring, training, mentoring, and managing performanceEstablish workflows to reduce or eliminate manual processes and gain efficienciesCollaborate with underwriting managers to ensure underwriting teams are providing effective support and address opportunities for improvementManage processes for internal and external auditsManage monthly premium bookings and overdue premium processesLead and/or support head count and workload managementIdentifies and develops operational performance metrics and assists management in reporting on key performance indicatorsParticipate in value stream mapping and other cross functional projects to create process efficienciesCreate culture of continuous improvementPerform ad hoc projects as neededProvide backup to other managers as necessaryWhat you’ll bring:10 plus years of managerial experience with similar dutiesBachelor’s Degree PreferredStrong leadership skillsStrong problem solving and decision-making abilitiesStrong written and oral communication skillsExtensive experience with Guidewire PolicyCenterTechnical capabilities such as Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe AcrobatStrong planning and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficientlySalary Range: $155,000-$190,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.At Sompo, we recognize that the talent, skills, and commitment of our employees drive our success.
