Departmental Overview The Ally Care Team (ACT) provides behavioral health clinicians and support staff to students, staff, and faculty on campus. This role offers consultations, care navigation, therapy, assessment services, crisis de‑escalation, and intervention within an integrated medical‑mental health campus model. Position Summary Provides comprehensive treatment, consultation, and crisis response to non‑violent, non‑emergent mental and behavioral health needs within the UC Berkeley campus. Responsibilities include crisis de‑escalation, therapy, assessment, post‑incident support, coordination with campus and external services, and facilitation of welfare checks. Responsibilities Work collaboratively within ACT to provide assessment, therapy, and consultation services to UC Berkeley students, staff, and faculty. Quickly assess crisis needs and create response plans. Maintain cultural humility and remain calm during multiple crises within a single shift. Provide culturally responsive, trauma‑informed, harm‑reduction, and person‑centered crisis assessment, intervention, and de‑escalation. Assess for suicidality, homicidal intent, violence risk, grave disability, and substance use; complete 5150 applications as appropriate. Coordinate transportation and care with receiving hospitals; provide on‑site support after campus traumas. Document client progress and treatment in the EHR and other required systems. Participate in multidisciplinary consultation meetings and use shared decision‑making techniques with clients and staff. Lead outreach and educational programming with campus partners and community members. Identify system improvements and advocate recommendations to leadership. Maintain client records with confidentiality and completeness. Understand UHS policies, operational procedures, and campus services. Adapt to changes in health care practices and technology. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Master's or doctoral degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field. Valid CA driver’s license. Valid mental health license in California (Licensed Psychologist, LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, or registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology). Minimum one year of experience providing behavioral health services in a public health, community mental health, crisis services, or similar setting serving adults with mental health crises. Minimum one year of experience working with college/university students or young adults. 5150 certification for Alameda County within 30 days of employment. BLS certification as required by UHS. Willingly work flexibly and outside a traditional clinical space, including traveling and frequent movement. Demonstrated ability to work with highly diverse communities and a willingness to learn and understand different perspectives. Preferred Qualifications Multilingual abilities (English, Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese). Salary & Benefits Step 1.0: $119,500.83 – Step 6.0: $131,938.63.
