ELG consistently has active cases in both state and federal courts and at the trial court and appellate level, including before the U.S. Supreme Court. These matters are often high pressure, fast paced, and offer a rewarding opportunity for lawyers who want to use their litigation skills on the front lines to protect democracy and support the efforts of progressive clients.QualificationsWe are seeking attorneys with meaningful litigation experience and excellent credentials. We are primarily looking for candidates in class years 2018-2024, but we will consider candidates in other class years with exceptional qualifications or experience. Excellent legal writing skills are a must, as is meaningful litigation experience, the ability to take significant responsibility for cases and skillfully move them forward, as well as excellent oral presentation skills, experience supervising and directing more junior attorneys and staff, and careful attention to detail and the ability to work quickly, thoughtfully, and collaboratively in a challenging and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have the experience and skill set to take and defend depositions, a deep familiarity with the federal rules of procedure and evidence, meaningful in-court experience, and broad motions practice experience, including the ability to execute major filings from beginning to end. Travel is required.Position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.Position requires that the employee be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.Physical DemandsThis position is primarily a sedentary position.
