We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support day-to-day financial operations for our Houston, Texas office. This role will manage core accounting activities such as payables, billing coordination, reconciliations, and expense tracking while helping maintain accurate financial records. The ideal candidate is organized, responsive, and comfortable working with legal and administrative teams to keep accounting processes moving efficiently and on schedule.

Responsibilities:
• Record vendor invoices in the accounting system and assign expenses to the appropriate categories for accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare monthly prebills, coordinate updates with attorneys, and issue client invoices promptly, including electronic billing submissions when required.
• Reconcile corporate credit card activity and petty cash transactions to ensure balances and supporting documentation are accurate.
• Review and process employee expense reimbursements in accordance with company policies and reporting timelines.
• Produce month-end cost recovery information and upload finalized data into the accounting platform.
• Oversee the accounting email inbox, address routine inquiries, and route items to the appropriate team members when needed.
• Partner with paralegals and attorneys to track client-related expenses and follow up on unpaid balances.
• Maintain supplier records, including tax documentation and profile updates, to support accurate payments and year-end reporting.
• Provide backup support for daily deposit processing as well as new matter intake tasks such as conflict checks and file setup.
• Assist the Controller with ad hoc assignments and other accounting-related projects as needed.• Experience preparing journal entries and maintaining accurate general ledger activity.
• Working knowledge of accounts payable processes, invoice coding, and accounting entries.
• Ability to manage billing workflows, including prebills, client invoicing, and electronic billing submissions.
• Proficiency in account reconciliations, including credit cards, petty cash, and expense-related balances.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize multiple priorities and meet recurring deadlines.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with attorneys, paralegals, and internal staff.
• Experience handling employee reimbursements, vendor maintenance, and financial recordkeeping.
• Comfort using accounting software and standard office applications to complete daily responsibilities efficiently.
