Staff Accountant

Staff AccountantClayton Services is searching for a Staff Accountant to join a thriving manufacturing distribution company in West Houston. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for owning the company's accounting function, preparing accurate financial reporting, managing month-end close activities, supporting inventory reconciliation efforts, and providing financial insights to leadership.Job Type: Direct Hire Pay Range: $80,000 - $100,000 depending on experience Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) w/ match, life, short & long term disability, PTO, and more.Staff Accountant Responsibilities:Prepare monthly financial statements, including income statements and balance sheetsMaintain the general ledger and ensure financial data accuracyPerform month-end and year-end close activitiesPrepare journal entries and account reconciliationsReconcile balance sheet accounts and banking activityAssist with cash flow reporting and financial analysisSupport budgeting and forecasting initiativesAnalyze financial results and provide reporting to company leadershipCoordinate with outside CPA firms regarding annual tax filings and financial reporting requirementsSupport franchise tax, property tax, and other business compliance requirementsMaintain fixed asset records and schedulesParticipate in inventory reconciliations, cycle counts, and physical inventory activitiesAssist with inventory reporting and reorder analysis utilizing ERP and spreadsheet-based reporting toolsDevelop and improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and internal controlsSupervise and support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as neededAssist with payroll, HR administration, and other operational projects as business needs evolveWork closely with company leadership to improve financial visibility and decision-makingStaff Accountant Skills and Abilities:Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statement preparationAbility to independently manage accounting functions in a small business environmentAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills including formulas, pivot tables, and reportingStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesExperience working with ERP systemsAbility to organize and analyze large amounts of financial and inventory-related dataExcellent attention to detail and accuracyStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionComfortable wearing multiple hats in a growing entrepreneurial environmentStaff Accountant Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required2+ years of accounting experience requiredExperience preparing financial statements requiredExperience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close requiredExperience supporting inventory accounting or inventory reconciliation activities preferredExperience working in a distribution, inventory-driven, wholesale, or industrial business environment preferredExperience working directly with outside CPA firms preferredStaff Accountant - Immediate need.
