Manager Patient Access - St. Peter's Hospital - FT Days

Job Summary Employment Type: Full time | Shift: Day | Location: St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany, NY (100% onsite). Purpose We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Patient Access Manager to oversee and optimise the performance of Patient Access operations. The ideal candidate is a revenue cycle leader focused on optimising patient intake, registration and access processes to ensure patients receive timely, accurate and compassionate care while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and supporting the organisation’s operational goals. Essential Functions Lead and direct ER registration and central registration operations. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and maintain operational standards. Identify, define and solve complex problems impacting business management and direction. Collaborate with services areas, regions and health ministries to ensure consistency and integration of strategy and operations. Provide decision support and operational optimisation leadership focus. Measure and report KPIs/metrics and value delivery. Provide advice, guidance and leadership to RHM, Region leaders and functional teams. Oversee vendor/contract labour management and optimise spend. Serve as organisation‑wide focal point for functional strategies and governance over financials & staffing. Ensure effective communication between service area functional teams and leadership. Maintain a working knowledge of federal, state and local laws and programme requirements. Functional Responsibilities Manage onsite Patient Access operations, maximising patient throughput while securing reimbursement for services rendered. Redesign processes and systems to improve patient experience, data integrity, staff productivity and quality. Provide scheduling, leadership, guidance and direction to staff in multiple locations and manage all aspects of employee life cycle. Coordinate activities focused on onsite patient registration/intake, medical necessity screening, point of service collections, dissemination of patient information, securing insurance & demographic information. Provide financial counselling activities and support coverage of other departmental divisions. Serve as primary liaison regarding registration functions and related database issues. Collaborate with other departments to implement best practice and issue resolutions. Develop, monitor and maintain Access Operations policies & procedures to assure compliance. Communicate new additions and changes to colleagues. Establish and implement goals & objectives for Patient Access in alignment with organisational mission. Review KPI reports daily, promote quality and standardisation, and support cohesive revenue cycle. Prioritise & coordinate registration duties to ensure smooth patient flow. Regularly monitor patient tracking system & registration reports, adjust staffing to demand peaks. Share ‘on call’ coverage for emergencies or problems in Registration areas. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field. Three (3) to Five (5) years of leadership experience within Patient Access. Five (5) years of relevant experience in functional areas such as Registration, Insurance Verification/Financial Clearance, Financial Counselling. National certification in HFMA CHFP, CRCR or NAHAM CHAM required within one (1) year of hire. Compensation Pay range: $30.00–$43.50 per hour (based on experience, skills and education). Exempt positions under the Fair Labour Standards Act will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. Pay may vary within the stated range based on location.
