Overview The role facilitates virtual and in‑person group sessions for program participants in the Tennessee Department of Corrections region. Split shift work and travel to other DOC facilities may be required. Responsibilities Facilitate delivery of cognitive behavioral curriculum in individual and group settings focusing on motivation for change, social adjustment, personal management, social skills development, cognitive restructuring, and problem‑solving skills. Conduct periodic reviews of curriculum and resources to enhance participant engagement in life‑skills programming and activities. Maintain class rosters, attendance records, and issue completion certificates for evidence‑based and life‑skills programs as required. Support assessment of participant needs and make referrals to management. Provide individual and group counseling in areas including self‑esteem, problem‑solving, relationships, and related issues. Communicate with program participants regarding reentry planning and community resources. Aid participants in planning and developing post‑release plans and encourage responsibility for post‑release behaviors and activities. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences or a related field. Prior experience as a facilitator, educator, or group moderator. Preference for experience within a correctional setting. Valid state driver’s license. Ability to interact professionally in individual and group counseling settings. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Extensive organizational skills and attention to detail. Familiarity with the correctional system and current policies. Thorough understanding of evidence‑based principles that reduce recidivism.
