Purpose of the Job The Lead Teller is responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day teller operations, ensuring consistency with service standards, policies, and procedures, and providing leadership and coaching to the teller team. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Provides coaching and encouragement to the teller team to meet branch goals. Engages in meaningful financial conversations with members and records interactions through the referral process. Ensures adherence to member service standards, including problem resolution. Provides excellent customer service and demonstrates the vision through coaching. Supports member service operations and resolves account issues with confidentiality. Monitors teller transactions for accuracy and minimal errors. Assists management with branch cash audits and fraud prevention. Ensures teller staff meet balancing, check hold, and identification standards. Communicates operational procedure changes. Schedules teller operations to maintain adequate coverage. Balances vault cash and reconciles errors; maintains cash limits. Balances and audits cash dispensing machines and manages night depository. Mentors new tellers and supports professional development. Aids management in performance appraisals, scorecards, and reviews. Recognizes positive employee behavior and results. Manages inventory of official check stock. Serves members performing all standard teller duties. Other Duties and Responsibilities Assists with other tasks and projects as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong understanding of financial services standards, practices, procedures and compliance. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Previous sales experience is preferred. Good arithmetic skills. Basic personal computer skills. Ability to understand all business processes within the credit union. Detail oriented and well organized. Able to work in a general office environment. Flexible and able to shift resources and priorities as needed. Capable of completing assignments with minimal supervision. Proficient in resolving member complaints and coaching others. Works well under pressure in a goal‑oriented environment. Commitment to providing excellent service. Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, bending, and stooping. Ability to sit at a desk for moderate periods and use a computer. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally. Education and Background High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
