This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to produce high-quality welds with minimal distortion and post-processing.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate handheld laser welding equipment to join metal parts per specifications and drawingsRead and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and weld symbolsSet up and adjust laser welding parameters (power, speed, focal length, shielding gas, etc.)Prepare materials by cleaning and fixturing prior to weldingInspect welds for quality, penetration, and cosmetic appearancePerform minor finishing work (grinding, polishing) as requiredMaintain equipment and perform routine checks to ensure proper operationFollow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and laser safety protocolsDocument work completed and report any quality or equipment issuesMust be able to work with fractions and decimal system using a tape measure and calipersQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredPrior welding experience required; laser welding experience preferredFamiliarity with stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum weldingAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawingsBasic understanding of welding parameters and metallurgyStrong attention to detail and qualitySkills & CompetenciesSteady hand and good hand-eye coordinationAbility to work with minimal distortion and tight tolerancesMechanical aptitudeProblem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamManufacturing/shop environmentExposure to bright light, heat, and fumes (controlled with ventilation systems)Standing for extended periods and handling parts of varying sizesPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.Good vision (corrected acceptable) for detailed weld workManual dexterity for precise tool handlingSafety RequirementsMust follow all laser safety guidelines (including eye protection specific to laser wavelength)Use of required PPE: safety glasses, gloves, protective clothingAwareness of reflective surfaces and beam hazards
