Construction Project Accountant

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Accountant to join our growing team. This position requires a strong background in general contracting construction accounting , managing multiple active projects simultaneously, and a comprehensive understanding of AIA billing processes and documentation .

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced working within a fast-paced construction environment where multiple projects, owners, and contract requirements must be managed concurrently.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage accounting functions for multiple active construction projects simultaneously.
• Prepare, review, and process AIA billings , including G702 and G703 documents .
• Generate owner billings and manage payment applications based on contract requirements.
• Coordinate lien waivers, releases, and supporting documentation as required by project contracts and Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS).
• Monitor project costs, budgets, commitments, and job profitability.
• Work closely with Project Managers and Operations teams to ensure accurate project financial reporting.
• Process subcontractor invoices and support monthly project closeout activities.
• Reconcile project-related accounts and maintain accurate financial records.
• Assist with contract compliance, change orders, and project documentation requirements.
• Support financial reporting and forecasting for active construction projects.

Required Qualifications

Top Requirements

1. 5+ years of Project Accounting experience in the construction industry
2. Experience working as a Project Accountant for a General Contractor on multiple projects simultaneously
3. Strong AIA Billing experience

Additional Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience within a General Contractor environment (not solely subcontractor experience).
• Extensive knowledge of AIA billing procedures , including:
  • G702 Application and Certificate for Payment
  • G703 Continuation Sheet
• Strong understanding of owner billing requirements, contract types, and supporting documentation.
• Experience managing a high volume of projects and competing deadlines.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with project teams.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and construction accounting systems.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with any of the following systems is highly desired:

• ComputerEase (Deltek)
• Procore
• Sage Intacct Construction (formerly Timberline)

Experience with Sage Intacct is particularly valuable as the organization is transitioning to the platform.
