Afternoon Assistant Teacher

About This Role The UU World of Children Montessori School is seeking a caring and reliable Afternoon Assistant Teacher to support our Primary class (children ages 3–6) during the afternoon hours Monday-Thursday 2:30-5:30pm and Friday 11:45-5:30pm. This is an excellent opportunity for college students majoring in Early Childhood Education or a related field to gain practical experience in a Montessori environment. No Montessori certification required. In addition to regular afternoon hours, there may be opportunities to sub in the morning. What You'll Do Assist the Lead Teacher in managing the afternoon routine Supervise and engage with children during indoor and outdoor activities Help maintain a calm, clean, and inviting classroom environment Support children's independence and exploration in a respectful way Build positive relationships with students, families, and staff Requirements High school diploma Experience working with young children (through camps, babysitting, classroom, etc.) Ability to pass required state background checks Complete 15 hours of online training within 30 days of hire CPR/First Aid certification and completion of annual training will be required (support provided) Nice To Haves Enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Early Childhood Education or a related field Familiarity or interest in Montessori education principles Strong communication and collaboration skills Positive attitude, flexibility, and a strong work ethic Enthusiasm for nature-based learning and outdoor play Benefits Paid Leave Sick Leave About Us We offer a safe, stimulating, and nurturing experience at the UU World of Children.
