Quality Inspector

Location: Hayward, CA
Shift: 2:00 PM - 11:00 PM
Pay Rate: $22.00 - $24.20 per hour
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to join a leading manufacturing team in Hayward, CA. This opportunity is ideal for a Quality Inspector with experience performing inspections in manufacturing, machine shop, assembly, cleanroom, semiconductor, or similar production environments. The successful Quality Inspector will be responsible for ensuring products meet quality, safety, and engineering specifications through detailed inspections, testing, and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical inspections to ensure quality requirements are met.
• Inspect raw materials, components, fabricated parts, and assemblies.
• Conduct receiving, incoming, first-piece, in-process, and final inspections.
• Measure components and assemblies using precision measuring equipment.
• Generate inspection reports, documentation, and nonconformance reports as required.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, BOMs, and travelers.
• Verify compliance with quality standards and manufacturing requirements.
• Support production, engineering, suppliers, and customers on quality-related issues.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.
• Ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Participate in continuous improvement and corrective action activities.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Basic computer skills.
• Basic Microsoft Office knowledge.
• Experience using:
• • Vernier Calipers
  • Micrometers
  • Rulers
  • Standard inspection and measurement tools
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to read and follow production instructions and specifications.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic mathematical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic SAP knowledge.
• Experience with electrical testing equipment, including:
• • Multimeters
  • Megohmmeters (Meggers)
• Experience in machine shop, assembly cleanroom, semiconductor, or similar manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and engineering drawings.
• Experience inspecting machined, sheet metal, painted, powder-coated, plated, welded, wired, or crimped components.
• Experience with Optical Comparators and CMM equipment.

• Blueprint and engineering drawing interpretation.

• Quality inspection and compliance procedures.

• Root cause analysis and problem-solving.
• Manufacturing quality standards.
• MS Office and database software proficiency.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

Physical Requirements

• Stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Walk, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, push, pull, and grasp frequently.
• Lift up to 75 pounds occasionally, 25 pounds frequently, and 15 pounds continuously.
• Perform repetitive hand, arm, and finger movements.
• Visual acuity required for detailed inspections and measurements.

Work Environment

• Manufacturing and/or cleanroom environment.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment, chemicals, and debris.
• Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Fast-paced production environment focused on quality and safety.
