Job Description

The Brazing Machine Operator builds and prepares specialized systems that power aircraft equipment on the ground. In this role, you assemble piping, mechanical parts, and electrical components for pre-conditioned air (PCA) systems, perform brazing and plumbing tasks, and ensure each system meets strict quality and safety standards through testing and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Assemble piping, mechanical parts, and electrical components for PCA systems by following engineering drawings, blueprints, and detailed work instructions.
• Perform brazing and plumbing tasks to connect HVAC systems and copper assemblies in accordance with specified procedures and standards.
• Set up equipment and perform functional testing on completed assemblies to verify proper operation.
• Troubleshoot issues identified during testing and make necessary adjustments or repairs to meet performance requirements.
• Verify work quality at each stage of the build process and make corrections based on schematics, procedures, and quality guidelines.
• Use basic hand tools, power tools, and test equipment safely and effectively to complete daily tasks.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to ensure accurate assembly and brazing work.
• Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and quality targets.
• Document work performed as required, including test results and any adjustments or repairs made.

Essential Skills

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and detailed instructions.
• Hands-on experience with brazing tasks or willingness to complete company-provided brazing certification training.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing practices related to HVAC systems and copper assemblies.
• Familiarity with basic measurement tools and the ability to take accurate measurements.
• Experience using basic hand tools, power tools, and test equipment in a production or mechanical environment.
• Understanding of and adherence to safety procedures in a shop or manufacturing setting.
• 6 months or more of relevant experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or production work, OR a high school diploma or equivalent education.
• Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and repairs on mechanical or electrical assemblies.
• Capability to follow detailed instructions and work from schematics and procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in HVAC assembly, plumbing, or mechanical repair in a production environment.
• Exposure to electrical assembly or troubleshooting in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Background in mechanical or production work that involves assembling complex systems.
• Comfort working with copper assemblies and aluminum components.
• Interest in completing a structured training program, including a 6-week paid aluminum welding training at Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Murfreesboro prior to on-the-job training.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools, processes, and equipment.
• Strong customer focus and commitment to supporting reliable ground power systems for aircraft.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with coworkers and leaders.

Work Environment

You work in a brand-new, climate-controlled facility designed for comfort and efficiency. The environment supports hands-on mechanical, electrical, and HVAC assembly work using basic hand tools, power tools, and test equipment. The standard schedule runs Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., providing a consistent four-day workweek. The facility emphasizes safety, organization, and teamwork, creating a professional shop setting where you can focus on high-quality production work and skill development.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Murfreesboro, TN.

The pay range for this position is $22.92 - $26.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Murfreesboro,TN.
