Dean delivers resilient, secure, and innovative power and technology solutions through engineering expertise and smart systems integration.A Telecom Technician 3 is responsible for the installation, planning, organizing, and scheduling of communications cabling and equipment to complete assigned work orders, including assigning tasks, assuring the work is being installed in a high-quality manner and performing quality inspections. Monitors task completion, compliance and prevents safety issues in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Oversees a crew of five (5) or more technicians and apprentices.As a technician you should have the work experience installing equipment which involves using hand tools and power tools, a working understanding of Telecom Systems, blueprints and knowledge of codes and standards. Additionally, each technician must make every effort to become a qualified BICSI Technician. Telecom technicians are full time employees with company benefits.Responsibilities:Have knowledge of and understand the safe use of hand tools and various power toolsWear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Follow Safety Policies and ProceduresActively Participate in Daily Safety and Work briefingsInstall various types of Low Voltage CableInstall, inspect, terminate, test, and troubleshoot ISP/OSP telecommunications systems (Fiber Optics, Category 5, 6, 6A, and associated equipment such as: various pathways and cable trays, various cabinet and racks, various telecommunications devices, prefabricated components and assemblies, and telecommunications grounding systemsSurvey and document existing telecommunications infrastructure such as copper and fiber cables, active and passive components using electronic devices.Sketch rack elevations, floor, and wall elevations.Participate in design document reviews and activities to ensure timely, cost effective, and quality project outcomes.Install, power up and connect fiber uplinks of network equipment into a telecommunications cabinet/rack.Calculate grounding conductor, conduit sizing and raceways layouts.Produce 4 week look ahead plans to include, productivity planning for assigned scopes of work, material procurement/staging and tracking weekly productivity to plans.Possess the ability to train and supervise apprentices in a team environment to facilitate installing cable from Telecommunication Rooms (TR) to work area outlets (WAO) while following drawings and run lists to ensure cables are installed methodically and arranged in proper bundles at TR for ease of dressing and termination.Maintain accurate as built drawings – As-built drawings are to be updated and logged onto master record contract drawings a minimum of once a week.Perform quality assurance checks of their team's work ensuring cable install is performed within all applicable requirements.Maintain a clean work area and participate in job site clean upSecure company tools and materials dailyQualifications:6 + years prior experience in commercial communications industryMust be 18 years of ageHigh School diploma or GED is requiredMust have an excellent safety record, a valid driver's license, and clean driving record in order to meet corporate eligibility requirements to drive a company owned vehicle.Successfully pass a background check and drug testHave reliable transportation to and from the jobsiteAbility to pass basic telecommunication knowledge testDemonstrated experience and ability to read and understanding plans and specifications.Strong communications, time management and organization skills to meet deadlines and quality objectivesConsistently report to work on time, work well with other to accomplish a common goal and maintain a safe work environmentWear long pants and a shirt that covers the shoulders by six (6) inches. These are not provided by the Company.Provide basic tools from provided tool list prior to 1st day of employment.Desired Skills:Candidates must be willing to work in different countries for up to 6 months out of the year and travel within the United States, as well.Prior experience in communications work including room build-out, Cat6, Cat6A and fiber optic termination, interpret and maintain drawing and as-builts.Test, troubleshoot, and repair copper and fiber optic cabling.Familiarity working with: - BlueBeam - Fluke Versiv - MS Office Word and ExcelAbilities:The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to [50 pounds] on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety.Relocates a 12 foot stepladder without assistance.Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
