Sous Chef

Hyeholde, a storied fine dining destination in Moon Township, PA just outside Pittsburgh, is seeking a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary leadership team. Now in our 89th year, Hyeholde sits on four acres of gardens, featuring an active chef’s garden and on-site beehives. Our seasonal menus celebrate regional producers, classic technique, and thoughtful hospitality in a setting unlike any other in the Pittsburgh area. This role is ideal for a culinary professional ready to take the next step in leadership while continuing to grow creatively and technically within a highly collaborative kitchen. The Sous Chef works closely with Owner/Executive Chef and Chef de Cuisine to uphold the standards, culture, and day-to-day operations of the kitchen. What You’ll Do: Support and uphold Hyeholde’s standards of food quality, consistency, flavor, and presentation Assist in overseeing daily prep and service operations across all stations Lead and support line cooks during service, including running hotline or expo as needed Train and mentor kitchen staff while reinforcing systems, standards, and kitchen culture Assist with inventory, ordering, product rotation, and waste reduction Monitor food costs and help minimize waste Oversee dishwashing operations and chemical inventory Ensure compliance with HACCP, ServSafe, sanitation, and workplace safety standards Collaborate with culinary leadership on menu execution, seasonal transitions, and operational improvements Promote a professional, respectful, and collaborative work environment Lead by example through accountability, organization, and a strong work ethic What We’re Looking For: 3–5 years of upscale or fine dining culinary experience Previous leadership or supervisory kitchen experience strongly preferred Strong understanding of flavor development, food presentation, and kitchen organization Knowledge of wine, craft beverages, and seasonal ingredients preferred Excellent communication and leadership skills Ability to multitask and remain composed during high-volume service Inventory and purchasing experience preferred Proficiency in Word and Excel is a plus Culinary degree preferred, but not required Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays ServSafe certification required (or willingness to obtain) Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (or valid exemption) Why Work With Us: Salary starting at $45,000 - $47,000 annually, based on experience Full-time leadership opportunity with growth potential Paid training and certification opportunities Annual performance review and compensation evaluation Health, dental, and 401(k) benefits Staff meal and dining benefits Opportunity to work directly alongside experienced culinary leadership A uniquely creative and inspiring work environment rooted in craftsmanship, hospitality, and legacy Schedule: Daytime and Evening shifts Full-time Occasional extended shifts during events and peak seasons Location: Moon Township, PA Job Type: Full-time 401(k) Health insurance Paid training Shift Availability: Day Shift (Required) Night Shift (Required) Ability to Commute: Coraopolis, PA 15108 (Required) Ability to Relocate: Coraopolis, PA 15108: Relocate before starting work (Required) Apply today to become part of a legacy — and help shape the future of one of Pittsburgh’s most beloved dining institutions. #J-18808-Ljbffr Hyeholde
