About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of medical-surgical experience required; stepdown/PCU experience preferred. License: Valid state license required Certifications: BCLS Must-Have: Must not live within 50 miles of the facility; no license or background hits accepted. Description: Candidates must already be licensed in the state. This position requires floating to the PCU unit as needed. First-time travelers are accepted. Daily patient census is 22 on a 22-bed adult medical-surgical oncology unit. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics. Common diagnoses include wounds, sepsis, pneumonia, diabetes, COPD, chest pain, AKI, dialysis, alcohol withdrawal, liver failure, oncology, and end-of-life care. Staffing is interdisciplinary, including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, and unit secretary. Preferred skills include accessing/managing ports, blood product administration, IV start, phlebotomy, and wound care. Expect to work some holidays and weekends in rotation with staff. Candidates should be comfortable with floating within the hospital. Responsibilities may include managing a patient ratio of 6:1 and participating in rapid response/code teams. All candidates must comply with current standards and protocols.
