Lead Software Engineer - DevOps, Equities Trading

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering, with at least 5 years of applied experience.
• Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages, frameworks, or tools, such as Python, C++, Bash, and Grafana.
• Demonstrated DevOps or SRE experience in a mission-critical, low-latency environment, with accountability for uptime and incident response.
• Practical understanding of the FIX protocol.
• Strong Linux troubleshooting skills, including log analysis, process and resource diagnostics, and command-line proficiency.
• Ability to collaborate across trading, operations, and engineering teams and communicate clearly during time-sensitive incidents.
• Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery, with a strong grasp of agile practices, CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
• Experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, including setting standards to validate their outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and security and resiliency expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption.
• Demonstrated proficiency with software applications and technical processes in a technical discipline such as cloud, AI, machine learning, or mobile.
• Preferred: Knowledge of electronic or equities trading, order lifecycles, and trading-related incident patterns.
• Preferred: C++ exposure sufficient to investigate issues by interpreting stack traces, logs, and component behavior; this is not a primary feature-development role.
• Preferred: Familiarity with ATLAS or similar production operations and engineering enablement tools.
• Preferred: Familiarity with incident management practices, including runbooks, post-incident reviews, alert quality, and operational readiness.
• Preferred: Basic networking knowledge for diagnosing connectivity and performance, including TCP/IP, port connectivity, and latency sensitivity.

• Design, develop, and troubleshoot creative software solutions, addressing technical problems beyond routine approaches.
• Provide daily production support for electronic trading platforms, including FIX sessions and connectivity, and help maintain stable order and trade workflows.
• Monitor system health and trading-impacting signals through Grafana dashboards and alerts, improving visibility into latency, errors, throughput, and availability.
• Lead incident triage and service restoration, including structured troubleshooting, stakeholder communications, and post-incident follow-up.
• Investigate recurring issues and implement lasting fixes, improving runbooks, alerting, and operational automation.
• Develop, review, and debug secure, high-quality production code; use Python scripts and tools for health checks, operational workflows, reporting, and environment validation.
• Operate and support Kafka on AWS, such as Amazon MSK or an equivalent service, including topic and partition design, consumer groups, throughput and latency tuning, permissions, and production troubleshooting.
• Promote enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery, and operations; establish validation standards for secure coding, peer review, and automated testing, and encourage reuse of effective approaches.
• Apply software development lifecycle tools, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value of automation.
• Troubleshoot Linux systems using logs, process and resource diagnostics, and network checks relevant to connectivity and application behavior.
• Work with development teams to investigate complex trading-system issues by reviewing logs, traces, and diagnostic output, including components implemented in C++.
