Director of Foundation Giving
Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County
Job Description
Build Legacies. Strengthen Philanthropy. Shape the Future.
\nThe Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County is seeking a strategic, relationship-driven Director of Foundation Giving to lead the development and growth of a comprehensive planned giving program that inspires donors to create lasting legacies in support of the Federation’s mission and the Jewish community.
\n \nThis role is about more than securing future gifts. It is about helping individuals and families translate their philanthropic values into meaningful, long-term impact. Through relationship building, donor education, stewardship, and collaboration with professional advisors, you will help donors explore opportunities to create a legacy that extends well beyond their lifetime.
\n \nWorking closely with the Vice President of Foundation and colleagues across the development team, you will identify and cultivate planned giving prospects, strengthen relationships with legacy donors and professional advisors, and integrate planned giving into the Federation’s broader fundraising strategy.
\n \nRole and Impact
\nAs our Director of Foundation Giving, you will serve as a strategic philanthropic advisor, relationship builder, and champion for legacy giving. You will develop individualized strategies for high-potential prospects, manage a portfolio of planned giving donors, cultivate relationships with attorneys, accountants, wealth managers, insurance professionals, and other advisors, and create opportunities for donors and their advisors to learn about the impact of planned giving.
\n \nSuccess in this role requires exceptional relationship-building skills, strong knowledge of charitable giving vehicles, excellent communication, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate effectively with donors, professional advisors, lay leaders, and colleagues.
\n \nKey Responsibilities
\n \nPlanned Giving Strategy & Execution
\n• Partner with the Vice President of Foundation to design and implement a comprehensive planned giving program, including marketing, donor education, cultivation, and stewardship strategies.
\n• Develop individualized strategies for engaging high-potential prospects and legacy donors.
\n• Build, manage, and grow a portfolio of planned giving prospects and donors.
\n• Identify opportunities to increase the Federation’s long-term philanthropic resources and assets under management.
\n• Partner with development colleagues to integrate planned giving into broader fundraising and campaign strategies.
\n• Educate donors about charitable giving opportunities, including bequests, donor-advised funds, trusts, and other planned giving vehicles.
\n• Work collaboratively with donors’ attorneys, financial advisors, accountants, and other professional advisors to facilitate planned gifts.
\n \nProfessional Advisory Committee & External Relationships
\n• Build and maintain strong relationships with members of the Federation’s Professional Advisory Committee, including attorneys, accountants, wealth managers, insurance professionals, and other advisors.
\n• Develop meaningful engagement opportunities that strengthen relationships between professional advisors and the Federation.
\n• Plan and execute educational programs, recognition events, briefings, and networking opportunities for professional advisors.
\n• Oversee the Professional Advisory Committee’s annual campaign portfolio and engagement strategy.
\n• Identify opportunities to expand the Federation’s network of professional advisors and philanthropic partners.
\n \nDonor Education, Stewardship & Recognition
\n• Support campaign and development teams in donor conversations involving legacy and planned giving.
\n• Prepare tailored materials, presentations, and resources to support individualized donor conversations.
\n• Implement coordinated stewardship and recognition strategies for legacy donors.
\n• Develop educational resources and communications that explain giving options and demonstrate philanthropic impact.
\n• Ensure timely, thoughtful, and appropriate acknowledgment and recognition of planned giving donors.
\n• Create meaningful opportunities for legacy donors to remain connected to the Federation and its mission.
\n \nCollaboration & Community Engagement
\n• Collaborate across the Foundation and Development departments to identify planned giving opportunities within existing donor relationships.
\n• Partner with lay leaders and volunteers to identify, cultivate, and steward prospective legacy donors.
\n• Participate in donor meetings, community events, educational programs, and Federation initiatives as needed.
\n• Serve as a knowledgeable resource to colleagues on planned giving strategies and charitable giving vehicles.
\n• Represent the Federation with professionalism and enthusiasm among donors, advisors, community leaders, and philanthropic partners.
\n \nThrive Here If You Have
\n• Bachelor’s degree required; professional fundraising certification is preferred.
\n• 5–7 years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, planned giving, estate planning, or a related field.
\n• Strong understanding of charitable giving vehicles, including bequests, trusts, donor-advised funds, and other planned giving strategies.
\n• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with donors and professional advisors.
\n• Exceptional interpersonal, collaboration, and relationship-management skills.
\n• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and communication skills.
\n• Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, relationships, and details.
\n• Experience supervising or managing others.
\n• Ability to work effectively with professional staff, lay leaders, donors, attorneys, financial advisors, accountants, and other external stakeholders.
\n• Knowledge of or connection to Jewish communal life is a plus.
\n• Sound judgment, discretion, professionalism, and a high level of attention to detail.
\n• Ability to work extended hours as needed for donor meetings, events, and community engagement.
\n• Deep commitment to the mission and values of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County.
\n \nWhy You Should Work Here
\nWe believe meaningful work begins with a supportive, mission-driven environment. When you join our team, you'll benefit from:
\n• Competitive salary
\n• Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits
\n• 401(k) with employer match
\n• Generous paid time off, including all major Jewish holidays
\n• A collaborative, mission-focused culture that values creativity and partnership
\n• Professional development and growth opportunities
\n• The opportunity to build meaningful relationships and help shape the future of Jewish philanthropy in South Palm Beach County
\n• The opportunity to help individuals and families create lasting philanthropic legacies that strengthen the community for generations to come
\n \nIf you're passionate about philanthropy, relationship building, donor engagement, and creating lasting impact, we'd love to hear from you.
