Beyond one-on-one advising, this position plays an active role inshaping innovative career development programs, services, andinitiatives that enhance student engagement and workforcereadiness. Working collaboratively with campus partners and Career& Internship Center staff, you will help design, implement, andevaluate programs that connect students with valuable resources,experiential learning opportunities, internships, and employmentpathways. This role provides the rewarding opportunity to combinecounseling, program development, education, and leadership whilecontributing to UVU's mission of student success, communityengagement, and lifelong learning. Summary of Responsibilities Counsels, coaches, and advises students and alumni regardingthe career development process, including assisting students withcareer assessments, preparing career plans, preparing employmentdocuments such as resumes, cover letters, reference pages, givingworkshop and classroom presentations, etc. Counsels and educatesstudents on professional communication for interviewing andnetworking. Coaches students on effective job searchtechniques. Collaborates with internship coordinators, pre-professionaladvisors, employers, alumni, university administration, key contactschool/college, and others to assist students seeking high-quality career positions/internships. Coordinates multiple projects relatedto CIC goals and objectives. Develops, plans, organizes, implements, and evaluatesdepartmental functions and services in collaboration with otherstaff. In collaboration and coordination with CIC marketingpersonnel, implements basic marketing methodology to reach targetaudiences. Monitors, analyzes, and interprets state, regional, andnational policies and trends, participates in professionaldevelopment and training programs, and contributes to professionalassociations. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications Graduation from an accredited institution with a master's degree inCounseling & Guidance, Educational Psychology, Social Work, ora related Social Science field and two years of full-timeprofessional employment related to the summary of duties;consideration given to those currently in a master's program; or abachelor's degree and 4 years of experience related to the summaryof duties. Preferred Qualifications: Experience using client relationship management (CRM) software or career services software such as Handshake, Simplicity, or GradLeaders. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Knowledge Knowledge of career counseling theory and practices. Knowledge of college/university culture and job placement methodology. Knowledge of current social, economic, and employmentconditions and trends. Knowledge of employer staffing practices, needs, and recruitment. Knowledge of research and analysis methods and report writingand maintaining databases. Basic Knowledge of project management practices. Skills Public speaking and group presentation skills areessential. Sound interpersonal skills with a friendly and positive demeanor, with superior customer service skills. Skills and technological competence using various applications to conduct work, such as Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook. Student-centered, combined with impeccable teamwork skills. Abilities Ability to communicate effectively using verbal and written communications, as well as using electronic media and graphic presentation tools. Ability to design workflow models, processes, andandsystems. Ability to work collaboratively and establish positiverelationships and to supervise and mentor staff andparaprofessionals if assigned. Ability to find solutions to complex problems and managepriorities. Ability to network with employers to establish beneficialrelationships for students and alumni.
