Activity Director

Eden Vista Prospect Heights , proud member of the Vista Senior Living Management located in Prospect Heights, IL, is looking for an Activity Director to enrich the lives of our residents. Position: Activity Director Nature And Scope Assists with planning a comprehensive program that includes individual and group activities that meet the needs and interests of the residents. Plans and directs activities. (Escorts residents to and from activities as needed). Supervises volunteers helping with in-house activities and on community outings. Provides one-to-one activities for residents who are not participating in group activities. Performs duties in a professional manner in compliance with the facility and Therapeutic Recreation Department policies and procedures. Maintains quality daily attendance/ behavioral records. Posts monthly program calendars and maintain good communication with all departments. Assists with setting up and decorating for activities and special events. Attends and participates in Therapeutic Recreation Department staff meetings and in-service trainings. Performs other related duties as assigned. Customer Service Performance Expectation At this facility, each resident, family member, visitor, and coworker is considered your customer and is vital to the success of our organization. Ensures activities occur on the date and time scheduled. Assists residents in getting to activities and gives reminders as needed. Report changes in health, physical, or mental, to the supervisor and/or their nurse. Maintains complete confidentiality. Aware of residents' performance in activities so they can be encouraged to attend their favorites. Place residents' dignity above their own comfort and seek assistance immediately upon needed. Ensures resident lives are maintained to the extent possible by providing activities and contact with the Community. Provides guidance and acts as a resource to staff on the importance of life enrichment and other areas regarding the quality of life for residents. High level of ability in effective and succinct communication, written and oral, with residents, families, staff, vendors, and the general public. Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly. Must have experience in planning, organizing, and executing a varied schedule of life enrichment opportunities for all levels of seniors, from those who are very active to those with cognitive impairments resulting from Alzheimer's and related dementias. Monitors life enrichment budget, equipment, and supplies. Ability to supervise employees and train volunteers. Must meet all health requirements and pass background checks. Qualifications Experience in memory care and as an Activity Director strongly preferred. Experience working with residents with dementia preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required. Strong creativity, organization, and follow-through skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine passion for working with older adults.
