Your Role:

The Medical Assistant II role is assigned duties and responsibilities related to patient care and administrative support in a team-based environment while promoting a smooth flow of patients through the office. The Medical Assistant II role functions under the license of the physician/advanced practice practitioner when performing clinical and other patient care responsibilities.


This role is part of the Lincoln Hospital School Based Health Center (SBHC ) team, primarily based in Morse High School, Bath Tech but position may, on occasion, support any of the Lincoln Hospital SBHCs. Because this position is based in a community clinic, work focuses on patient outreach, care coordination and scheduling rather than traditional MA role. Position with MaineHealth is 20 hours a week; these hours are combined with an additional 14 hours during the school year with RSU 1, working in the Health Center at Morse High School/Bath Tech. You would be support ing the school nurse by administering basic first aid, managing health records, monitoring students for health concerns, and communicating with families about illnesses or injuries. Ability to pick up shifts in other Lincoln practices for additional hours or during school vacations to preserve paid time off for the base 20 hours per week.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

1. Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following requirements: Graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience completed; or completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and 6 months of clinical experience in a practice setting; or 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting (equivalent experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis).
2. License/Certifications: Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, NCCT, or NREMT certification preferred or achieved within one year of eligibility. (Prior to 5/01/25 MA IIs with 10 years MA experience and employed by MaineHealth as a MA in the most recent 5 years are exempt from certification requirement) Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. Fully remote care team members are exempt from BLS certification requirement. A NH Med Tech License, or NH EMT and National Registry EMT license is required for those positions located in New Hampshire.
3. Experience: One year of experience as a Medical Assistant (without certification) or as a MaineHealth Clinical Team Assistant; or 6 months of experience as a certified Medical Assistant.
