Job Description

We are seeking a Field Service Engineer to support basic commissioning activities at customer sites. This role is hands-on and execution-focused, supporting installation verification, IO checkout, device configuration, and initial power-on activities under a defined scope and documentation. The engineer will work independently on assigned tasks while coordinating with engineers and site leadership as needed.

Responsibilities

• Support and execute basic commissioning activities at customer sites.

• Perform installation verification and IO checkout.

• Configure devices and conduct initial power-on activities.

• Coordinate with engineers and site leadership as necessary.

• Work independently on defined tasks with minimal supervision.

Essential Skills

• 2+ years of experience in industrial field service, commissioning, or startup support.

• Strong working knowledge of PLC-based systems, including Rockwell / AllenBradley PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix preferred).

• Working knowledge of Schneider Electric PLCs (Modicon / EcoStruxure platforms).

• Experience going online with PLCs to verify digital, analog, and safety IO.

• Solid understanding of industrial electrical drawings and wiring schedules.

• Experience with control panels, field devices, and safety circuits.

• Hands-on experience with IO checkout and basic commissioning.

• Experience with VFDs and/or servo drives.

• Experience supporting onsite commissioning in manufacturing or industrial environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in a Rockwell Automation controls environment is strongly preferred.

• Proficiency with drive systems such as VFDs and/or servo drives.

Work Environment

This position requires working on-site at various customer locations, supporting the commissioning process in industrial or manufacturing environments. The role is hands-on, necessitating the use of various tools and equipment related to PLC systems, control panels, and automation equipment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Eastlake, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
