In this role you will perform HVAC Maintenance support such as, assisting with HVAC installations, routine maintenance, and repairs related to mechanical, electrical, and low-voltage controls. The ideal candidate should be capable of scoping, estimating, and planning for minor HVAC repair projects and must be motivated with the skills to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.This full-time position is at the Naval Support Facility (NSF) Indian Head. Indian Head, Maryland, is approximately 30 miles from Washington, D.C., 25 miles from Alexandria, Virginia; and 60 miles from Fredericksburg, Virginia.Job Description:Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and cooling unitsDiagnose and repair electronic, mechanical, and electrical components of these systemsPreventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair to a variety of commercial HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, water source heat pumps, cooling towers, package rooftops, split systems, controls, pumps, VAVsSupport the full life cycle of small-scale projects from initial concept design through project completionPerform routine maintenance tasks on facilities and equipment, including HVAC, electrical, digital controls, and other mechanical systemsTroubleshoot and diagnose problems with facilities and equipment, and repair or replace defective parts as neededRespond to emergency maintenance requestsConduct site visits to document existing facility conditions and develop new requirementsPrepare technical memoranda/reports to document facility conditions and project statusEnsure that all facilities are in compliance with applicable codes and regulationsMaintain accurate records related to maintenance activities and administrative tasks, including work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, equipment inventory, and time sheetsQualifications and Skills:At least 2 years of HVAC experience and current Journeyman licensureHigh school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in facilities maintenance, engineering, or a related field preferredEnvironmental Protection Agency (EPA) Refrigerant Reclamation and Recovery CertificationAbility to read and interpret wiring diagrams and blueprintsStrong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other mechanical systemsBe familiar with a wide range of equipment and troubleshooting techniquesExperience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) requiredFamiliarity with state and local building codes, OSHA regulations, and NFPA standards a plusStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamMust currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearanceMust be a U.S. citizen as this position is not eligible for Limited Access AuthorizationsThis position will require a pre-employment physical examThis position requires lifting objects weighing up to 100 poundsWork may be performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g., fumes, dust, noise, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals)You may be required to participate in medical surveillance programsMust be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and reach during shiftsMust be able to use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other gear to move itemsMust be able to safely climb and descend ladders, stairways, scaffolding, and elevated work platforms and perform work at heights up to and exceeding 30 feetMust be able to perform work above shoulder level, including reaching, lifting, and manipulating tools and materials overheadEmployees must maintain the ability to safely perform these essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation, as a condition of employment.
