Collections Specialist

The Financial Services Department is seeking a dependable, customer-focused Collections Specialist to support collections activities. This role is ideal for a professional with strong communication skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The selected candidate will assist with customer account follow-up, payment resolution, and account reconciliation while maintaining a professional, respectful, and service-oriented approach with both customers and internal partners.

Compensation: $21-$23/hour Schedule: 8-5 Onsite Monday-Thursday; Fridays are typically remote Location: Farmers Branch, TX Type: Temp-to-Hire

Responsibilities:

• Manage assigned collection accounts under the direction of the Collections Supervisor.
• Research and reconcile open accounts receivable items to identify and resolve past-due invoices.
• Contact customers by phone and email to support timely resolution of outstanding balances using a professional soft-collections approach.
• Handle inbound and outbound customer communications with professionalism, accuracy, and courtesy.
• Document collection activity clearly and consistently, ensuring timely follow-up through resolution.
• Assist with payment arrangements in alignment with business guidelines and customer needs.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers and internal business partners.
• Provide feedback and observations that may help improve processes, service levels, and team efficiency.
• Support special projects and additional departmental responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year of recent customer service experience; experience in collections or accounts receivable is preferred.
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Professional demeanor, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn.
• Ability to quickly learn new systems, processes, and departmental procedures.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years of soft collections experience preferred.
• Experience with SAP, HighRadius, OMS, AS400, JD Edwards, or Salesforce preferred.
