Position Summary

The Investment Analytics Analyst will have direct exposure to NLG Capital's investment process by supporting senior members of the Office of the CIO Team. In doing so, they will work on projects related to asset allocation, risk management, performance measurement, competitive intelligence, and other investment related projects. The high impact role will offer exposure to key areas of the National Life investment process while ensuring that we are able to objectively frame our investment portfolio positioning and risk. This role provides the necessary information that is required to improve our investment decisions and to ensure that our decisions are aligned with the strategic objectives and constraints facing National Life Group.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the Office of the CIO in executing on NLG Capital's investment strategies
• Create and improve analytical tools and monitors that support our investment process through improved understanding and visualizing complex data sets
• Create monitors that bring transparency and objectivity of information to our investment process
• Influence key decision makers through recurring and ad hoc analysis
• Integrate insights into practical workflows utilizing Excel, Tableau / Microsoft BI, and email-based reporting
• Learn investment strategy workflows and apply technical skills to improve and automate processes
• Improve team efficiency by leveraging technology to solve our most challenging problems

The Person

Pivotal Experience & Expertise

• Strong understanding of financial markets, with at least three years of investment experience or an advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Financial Engineering, Data Science or Computer Science or combination thereof
• Asset management experience within the insurance industry preferred
• Experience in financial analysis and/or development and/or business analytics related roles
• Experience using Excel, Microsoft BI, Tableau, and other data visualization tools
• SQL and Python helpful
• Experience with code development best practices a plus
• Intense intellectual curiosity with the desire to seek new challenges while continuously learning
• Solid interpersonal skills and ability to connect to form meaningful working partnerships

Base Pay Range. The base pay range for this position is the range National Life reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors, including: prior experience and job-related knowledge; education, training and certificates; current business needs; and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. Additional Compensation and Benefits. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in National Life's discretionary annual incentive programs, subject to the rules governing such programs. If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position" and National Life reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors. Salary Pay Range $56,250 - $82,500 USD
