Night Shift Welder/Fitter

Job Title: Night Shift Welder/Fitter Job Description This role involves performing structural welding and fitting on very large poles used for street lighting and traffic control in a heavy manufacturing environment. You will work primarily with large structural material, using metalcore and flux core welding processes, and must be able to read and interpret blueprints while meeting strict quality and safety standards. Responsibilities Perform structural welding and fitting on large poles and other heavy structural components used for street lighting and traffic control. Use metalcore and flux core welding processes to complete welds on large structural materials in accordance with specifications and quality standards. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to determine dimensions, tolerances, and welding requirements. Fit and assemble large structural pieces accurately prior to welding, ensuring correct alignment, measurements, and fit-up. Complete and pass required weld tests, including welding a 1/2 inch flat plate in the 1G position using 1/16 inch metalcore wire with a bevel bar. Complete and pass required fitting tests to demonstrate the ability to lay out, fit, and prepare large structures for welding. Work safely in a heavy manufacturing environment, consistently wearing required personal protective equipment such as a hard hat, weld hood, and steel-toe footwear. Follow established procedures, safety rules, and quality standards while working on night shift schedules. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and maintain efficient workflow. Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle tools and equipment responsibly. Essential Skills At least 2 years of heavy industrial welding and fitting experience, preferably with large structural materials. Proven experience as a structural welder/fitter in a heavy manufacturing environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately. Ability to pass a fitting test demonstrating strong layout and fit-up skills. Ability to pass a weld test on a 1/2 inch flat plate in the 1G position using 1/16 inch metalcore wire with a bevel bar. Proficiency with metalcore welding processes. Proficiency with flux core welding processes. Strong understanding of structural welding practices and standards. Demonstrated stable work history with above-average tenure in previous welding or fitting roles. Commitment to following safety procedures and using required personal protective equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with very large poles or similar large structural components in heavy manufacturing. Comfort working on both welding and fitting tasks as needed. Ability to work night shifts (4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.) or day shifts (5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.), depending on business needs. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high quality standards on large-scale projects. Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a production team. Work Environment This position is based in a heavy manufacturing facility focused on producing very large structural poles for street lighting and traffic control. Night shift welder/fitters typically work from 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., with overtime frequently available on Fridays and occasionally on Saturdays. Day shift welders/fitters typically work from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The environment involves working around large materials, industrial equipment, and welding operations. You must wear a hard hat at all times on the shop floor, which is provided by the employer, and you are required to bring and use your own weld hood and steel-toe footwear. The facility operates with a strong focus on safety, proper use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to established procedures in a busy, production-driven setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tulsa, OK. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.50 - $28.25/hr.
