Established in 1966, Cambridge School Volunteers unites the Cambridge community to help Cambridge Public Schools students feel seen, supported, and successful. An independent nonprofit operating within the Cambridge Public Schools, we offer free, easy-to-access tutoring, mentorship, and classroom programming to more than 1,500 students annually. Our professional staff develops, coordinates, and evaluates our programs, enabling us to enhance the student experience without extra burden on educators. Each program aligns intentionally with District goals, leveraging longstanding organizational partnerships and over 500 engaged volunteers to respond flexibly to emerging needs. These dedicated volunteers show up with enthusiasm and joy, honoring students’ identities and building genuine relationships that create a safe space for learning. Job Responsibilities High School Programs Working with the director of high school programs, the program coordinator will support the Tutoring Center, College & Career Mentoring Program, Classroom Collaborators, and the Peer Tutor Program at CRLS. The role includes, but is not limited to Supervising before or after-school tutoring sessions Sending and responding to emails from students and volunteers Matching pairs for tutoring or mentoring Assisting with volunteer recruitment and processing volunteer CORIs NetPals This program has been running in partnership with CPS and local STEM companies for 30 years, sparking interest in STEM careers among 7th-grade students. The program is hosted by the 7th-grade science teachers at three upper schools in Cambridge during the school day. We recruit volunteers from our longstanding partner companies to provide a sustainable way for scholars and NetPal mentors to develop a relationship around an academic focus. Volunteers and students meet face-to-face three times and exchange four to six monitored emails. Work for this role will be supervised by the director of upper school programs. Responsibilities coordinating the NetPals program at the Rindge Avenue Upper Campus: Meet with the science teacher in September to develop the program schedule Coordinate with companies to recruit volunteers and approve the schedule Provide training for volunteers in preparation for the program’s launch Facilitate the planning of visits to the companies and to the school Support RAUC email days in the classroom Track and read student and mentor emails Manage end-of-program surveys and assist with annual report writing Other responsibilities include: Participation in weekly staff meetings Attending and supporting workshops and other events organized by CSV, like fundraisers and our annual volunteer appreciation event Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college, university, or equivalent professional experience Strong organizational and administrative skills Excellent digital and written communication skills Demonstrated ability to work effectively with adults and children from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds Experience managing youth programs Capacity to independently and creatively manage diverse responsibilities in a multi-faceted, expanding organization Competency with Google Workspace or willingness to learn Experience with our volunteer platform Bloomerang is a plus Compensation This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week, exempt position from September to June, during the 42 weeks of the Cambridge Public Schools academic calendar. There is potential for additional paid work in future summers. CSV’s offices are closed during Cambridge Public School vacations and holidays. Our operating hours are between 8 A.M. and 5 P.M., Monday through Friday. There are occasional evening and weekend responsibilities. Benefits include a 3% SIMPLE IRA contribution, paid time off, and full individual health insurance coverage. The salary range for this position is $44,600- $50,000. Start date is Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
