Front Desk Medical Assistant (Bilingual English/Spanish)This front desk medical assistant position is located at the School of Nursing's Family Wellness Center. The work schedule is Monday 8 am-8 pm, Tuesday through Thursday 8 am-5 pm, and Friday 8 am-12 noon. This position has a scheduled end date of 1 year from the date of hire: renewal of this position is dependent upon renewal of funding, job performance, and department needs.ResponsibilitiesAnswer clinic phones, schedule patient appointments and make reminder callsAccurately register patients and document billing informationProvide patients eligibility information for servicesReceive and record payments and issue receiptsMaintain confidential patient documentsEvaluates and distributes incoming mail, reports and/or inquiriesPatient rooming and vitals intakeAdminister point of care testingOther duties as assigned in support of the Family Wellness CenterRequired QualificationsHigh school graduation or GEDCompletion of a Medical Assistant programFluent in English and SpanishMinimum of one year performing Medical Assistant related dutiesAbility to use computer equipmentDemonstrated excellent organization and interpersonal skillsAbility to develop and maintain effective working relationships with providers, staff, and patientsAdherence to the highest ethical, legal, and health care standardsAccuracy in all phases of work performed, including following written and verbal instructionsTact, diplomacy, discretion, and confidentiality of medical information are required in all mattersPreferred QualificationsMore than one year of experience as a front desk receptionist and/or medical assistantMedical Assistant CertificationSalary Range$34,320 annual (equivalent to $16.50/hour)Working ConditionsStandard clinical and/or office environmentUse of manual dexterityLifting and movingRepetitive use of keyboard at a workstationOccasional evening and/or weekend hoursRequired MaterialsResume/CV3 work references with their contact information; at least one reference should be from a supervisorLetter of interest
