Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Labor and Delivery Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/14/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery Facility: Meritus Medical Center Location: Hagerstown, MD Start Date: 9/14/2026 Duration: 20 weeks Shift: Nights, 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts; no block scheduling Patient Ratio: Labor 1:2; Postpartum 3–4 couplets Charting System: Epic — required Float Required: Yes, based on clinical experience and facility policy Call Requirement: Yes; typically 16–20 hours per 6-week schedule Note: LDRP experience required. Nurses rotate between Labor, Triage, and Mother-Baby/Postpartum care. C-section surgical recovery experience highly preferred. Locals within 50 miles are not accepted. Position Overview: The Labor and Delivery RN provides comprehensive care across LDRP, Labor, Triage, and Mother-Baby/Postpartum settings, caring for obstetric patients and newborns throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care. Job duties: Manage laboring patients through antepartum assessment, fetal monitoring, labor progression, delivery, and postpartum recovery. Perform continuous fetal monitoring, recognize abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, and initiate appropriate interventions. Assist with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, C-sections, forceps/vacuum deliveries, and obstetric emergencies. Administer Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, antihypertensives, prostaglandins, terbutaline, and other obstetric medications while monitoring patient response. Provide postpartum and newborn care including couplet care, breastfeeding support, newborn assessments, fundal and lochia assessment, and post-C-section recovery. Requirements: License: Active RN license Experience: Minimum 2 years of L&D experience; LDRP experience required Certifications: BLS, NRP, AWHONN, FHM Other requirement: Epic experience required; OB surgical recovery/C-section experience highly preferred; must be comfortable rotating between Labor, Triage, and Mother-Baby/Postpartum care Unit Details: Unit: LDRP (Labor and Delivery), 11.7020 Patient Ratios: Labor 1:2; Postpartum 3–4 couplets Patient Population: Neonates, adolescents, and adults; laboring, postpartum, and high-risk antepartum patients Patient Diagnoses: Pregnancy-induced hypertension, postpartum hemorrhage, cesarean delivery, multiple births, high-risk pregnancies, and other obstetric conditions requiring L&D and postpartum care.
