Job Description Job Description Press Operator Dickey Manufacturing – St. Charles, Illinois Position Summary Dickey Manufacturing is seeking a skilled and dependable Press Operator to join our manufacturing team in St. Charles, Illinois. This position is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of various metal stamping presses used to manufacture precision components from thin-gauge sheet metal. The ideal candidate will have experience with blanking, drawing, and automatic presses, along with strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of tool and die operations. Dickey Manufacturing offers a clean, air-conditioned work environment and a four-day work week consisting of four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday. Essential Responsibilities Set up, operate, and troubleshoot blanking presses to produce quality parts that meet specifications. Set up, operate, and monitor drawing presses for deep-drawn and formed metal components. Set up and operate automatic presses, including progressive and automated feeding systems. Perform die changes, adjustments, and process setup to ensure efficient production and minimal downtime. Verify part quality through in-process inspections and dimensional checks. Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and production specifications. Monitor press performance and make adjustments as needed to maintain quality and productivity standards. Perform routine maintenance, lubrication, and housekeeping of presses and related equipment. Identify and report tooling, equipment, or quality issues. Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment. Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, productivity, and efficiency. Qualifications Required ~3 years or more experience operating and setting up metal stamping presses in a manufacturing environment. ~ General knowledge of tool and die operations, including operating, servicing, and maintaining stamping dies and related tooling. ~ Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection equipment. ~ Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to perform basic calculations, measurements, and conversions. ~ Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. ~ Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and specifications. ~ Experience working with thin-gauge sheet metal. ~ Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods. Preferred Experience with Minster P2 presses. Experience with progressive dies and automated feeding systems. Forklift and overhead crane experience. Work Environment Manufacturing facility processing thin-gauge sheet metal components. Clean, air-conditioned production shop. Four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday.
