Schedule / Job Type

Contract (13 weeks, with possible extension) | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift (3x12 Hours, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) | Every other weekend required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a high-volume Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit managing a patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7
• Monitor telemetry on the unit and participate in Rapid Response and Code team activations
• Manage complex care for medicine, orthopedic overflow, and long-term patients including wound care, surgical drains, and tracheostomy management
• Perform and oversee central line care, PICC line management, peripheral IV placement, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Administer and manage heparin protocols, feeding tube care, and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and other oxygen delivery systems
• Serve in a charge nurse capacity and float to other units as required

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered New York State RN license – must be in hand at time of submission (no exceptions)
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Medical Surgical / Telemetry nursing
• Experience managing a patient ratio of 1:6 or greater
• Charge nurse experience required
• Active BLS and NIHSS certifications – valid NIHSS must be included at time of submittal
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records – required (no exceptions)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with pacemaker management (temporary and permanent), ortho trauma, and total joint replacements
• Familiarity with isolation precautions, wound vac therapy, and tracheostomy care
• Background in a tertiary care or high-acuity hospital setting
