Staff Accountant

ChenMoore, founded in 1986, is a multi‑disciplinary firm specializing in utility infrastructure, roadway, site development, electrical, planning, landscape architecture, and construction engineering services for private and public sector clients. The company is headquartered in Fort Lauderdale with offices across Florida and other locations. ChenMoore is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Staff Accountant to join its growing finance team. The role will work closely with the Controller and CFO, supporting financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable, and audit compliance, especially in preparation for FAR audits. Responsibilities Assist with financial reporting, reconciliations, and month‑end close processes Process accounts payable, issue checks, and maintain vendor records Track consultant invoices and ensure payment is issued after client payment is received Record client payments and assist with cash application Review employee expense reports (credit card and expense reimbursements) for accuracy and compliance Prepare checks for deposit and maintain banking records Download and organize bank statements Respond to vendor and consultant inquiries regarding payments Support and lead coordination of the annual FAR audit, including responding to auditor requests Maintain accurate and organized accounting documentation Perform other duties as assigned by leadership Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related fields. 2–5 years of accounting experience (professional services or engineering firm experience a plus). Knowledge of FAR regulations preferred. Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or similar ERP systems is a plus. Strong Excel and analytical skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
