About the Position

Job Title: Emergency Department RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Mid Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years required; 1.5 years may be considered with Level 1 Trauma experience preferred. License: NM license can pend at the time of submission. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH, PALS, TNCC (must have TNCC prior to signing). Must-Have: Level 1 trauma experience preferred. Travel experience strongly preferred. Floating to Adult PCUs is based on staffing needs. Description: The Emergency Department operates with a patient ratio of 1:5. Approximately 60%-80% of the Emergency Department patients are admitted, with many of the rooms designated as "ED Holding." Travelers should expect assignments mainly consisting of admitted patients. Travelers will be scheduled for weekends as needed, which includes Saturday and Sunday for day shifts and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for night shifts. Medication administration includes IV medication via the seven medication rights. Documenting and communicating clinical findings is essential. The facility does not allow locals within a 100-mile radius. All clinicians must begin compliance within 1-2 weeks of signing. RTO requests greater than 7 days require approval. No RTO is allowed during the first 7 days or last day of the contract. Proof of COVID vaccination is optional, but records must be submitted. The facility is a Level 1 Trauma center and also operates as a teaching hospital. Patients in the Emergency Department include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Daily census ranges from 170 to 200 with approximately 175 visits per day. Travelers are expected to have experience with trauma/resuscitation. Clinical skills required include arterial line management, blood product administration, and care of ventilated patients. Travelers are responsible for starting and maintaining IVs and performing triage when necessary. Floating to pediatric departments is optional.
