Job Description Position: Commodity Buyer Metals Location: USA (Cadillac, MI) & Mexico (2 plants) Reports to: Regional Purchasing Director 1. Purpose of the Role The Commodity Buyer is responsible for managing the purchasing activities of metal commodities across multiple plants (Cadillac, MI and two sites in Mexico). This role focuses on supplier management, negotiations, and ensuring continuity of supply, aligned with corporate purchasing strategies defined by the Regional Director and Corporate Headquarters. 2. Key Responsibilities - Execute purchasing activities for metal commodities (steel, aluminum, stamping, forging). - Manage supplier relationships, including daily communication and issue resolution. - Negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery conditions within corporate guidelines. - Ensure timely supply to support production needs in the assigned plants. - Monitor supplier performance (quality, cost, delivery) and escalate issues when necessary. - Support cost reduction initiatives and implement improvement actions. - Apply AKWELs purchasing processes and compliance rules. - Collaborate with internal departments (Quality, Logistics, Finance, Projects) to ensure smooth operations. 3. Qualifications & Skills - Bachelors or Masters degree in Business, Engineering, or related field. - 5+ years of purchasing experience in automotive. - Strong knowledge of metal commodities and supply base management. - Negotiation and contract management skills. - Proficiency in SAP and MS Office. 4. Competencies - Strong communication and teamwork. - Problem-solving and perseverance. - Organizational and multitasking abilities. - Results-oriented mindset with focus on QCDP (Quality, Cost, Delivery, Performance).Qualifications:
Education : Bachelors or Masters degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
Experience : Minimum of 5 years in purchasing/procurement within the automotive industry.
Technical Knowledge :
Strong expertise in metal commodities (steel, aluminum, stamping, forging).
Supplier base management and supply continuity.
Skills :
Contract negotiation and supplier relationship management.
Proficiency in SAP and MS Office. Personal Competencies :
Effective communication and teamwork.
Problem-solving, resilience, and multitasking ability.
Strong organizational skills and results orientation.
Focus on QCDP (Quality, Cost, Delivery, Performance).
