Responsibilities
- Provide direct, patient-centered nursing care for adult patients in a step-down/PCU unit (16–20 beds) with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Monitor and interpret patient vital signs, clinical status, and response to treatment; recognize deterioration and initiate escalation
- Administer medications, monitor adverse reactions, and ensure safe delivery per physician orders
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and update care plans; educate patients and families on treatment plans, discharge planning, and follow-up
- Manage care for patients with sepsis, heart failure, hypertensive emergencies, respiratory failure, COPD, chronic kidney disease, substance use, status epilepticus, and encephalopathy
- Maintain compliance with hospital protocols, infection control practices, and ACLS/BLS standards; participate in code events as needed
- Document accurately in the electronic health record and ensure continuity of care during shift changes

Requirements
- Clinical experience: minimum 2 years of RN experience in a step-down, progressive care, or critical care environment
- Certifications: ACLS and BLS required
- Licensure: active RN license to practice in the United States (as applicable for this assignment)
- Unit specialty: ability to care for high-acuity medical patients in a PCU with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Availability for night shift and travel assignment
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting and comply with hospital policies
