Employment Type: 6-month contract with opportunity for direct hire

Compensation: $18.25/hour to start, with an opportunity for an increase up to $24/hour upon passing the company-provided training and certifications

Schedule:  M-F, 6:00 AM-2:30 PM

• Occasional overtime on weekdays could be available depending on business needs

About the Opportunity:

We are seeking a motivated early-career level Welder  to join our rail vehicle overhaul and repair team. This role supports the restoration, refurbishment, and structural repair of railcars and related components. The ideal candidate has foundational welding skills, a strong commitment to safety, and an eagerness to learn specialized techniques used in the rail industry.

What You'll Do:

• Execute secondary structure welding operations for rail vehicle manufacturing.
• Operate all welding machines including GMAW , GTAW and Resistance Spot Welders.
• Read blueprints or work instructions, set-up of jigs and fixtures, comprehend the associated welding symbols and welding sequence.
• Work in a safe manner compliant with all company Zero Deviation Procedures and Environmental, Health and Safety regulations and guidelines
• Weld different types of materials (e.g. carbon steel, stainless steel) and pass applicable welder evaluation Entry Level tests.
• Assist in new process development and troubleshooting of products.
• Inspect arc or spot welded weldments per the appropriate acceptance criteria and perform dimensional measurements to ensure conformance with specification.
• Effectively communicate with Supervision, Level A welders, Engineering Department and the Quality Department discussing design changes or material changes
• Any and all other responsibilities, in addition to those mentioned above, as assigned by supervisor/manager. Any interpretation/clarification with responsibilities above will be settled by the supervisor/manager. Job Requirements

What You'll Bring:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of 2 years of experience with welding, either professionally or from an educational/vocational program

• Working knowledge of material properties, methods and basic set-up, verification, adjustment, operation of the welding equipment and hand tools (grinding and cutting).
• Working knowledge and ability to safely use a variety of hand and power tools

• Ability to listen, learn and comprehend from experienced welders to achieve all company and customer requirements.
• Ability to utilize digital technology in day to day work responsibilities
• Ability to obtain or has external certifications AWS/ANST or equivalent

Additional Information:

• Required ability to lift up to 50 pounds 
• Required bending, kneeling, walking, and standing for long periods of time
• Required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
