Procurement Category Manager - Transportation

Position OverviewThe Procurement Category Manager– Transportation will lead transportation procurement, strategic sourcing, and supplier management strategies for ground transportation services, including Less-than-Truckload (LTL), Dedicated Delivery Service (DDS), Full Truckload (FTL), parcel, and related logistics support. This position will work cross functionally within International with logistics, finance, direct material procurement, operations, and suppliers. The role will be responsible for developing transportation sourcing strategies, managing carrier relationships, driving cost reductions, improving service performance, and negotiating and executing supplier agreements. In addition, this position will collaborate with VW brands and TRATON to identify scale, leverage, and process improvement opportunities across the transportation network.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute sourcing strategies for transportation services that align with International’s business objectivesLead strategic sourcing decisions for new scope as well as current business to improve cost, service, quality, and delivery performanceEstablish business plans with VW and TRATON to drive collaboration opportunities with sister brandsResearch industry trends, benchmark data, carrier market conditions, rate structures, fuel surcharge trends, and underlying transportation cost driversAnalyze category spend, lane data, accessorial charges, service performance, and carrier utilization to identify savings and network improvement opportunitiesPartner with logistics, finance, operations, and procurement teams to develop budgets, validate business requirements, and support transportation planningBuild strong strategic partnerships with transportation suppliers to ensure cost competitiveness, on-time delivery, claims performance, capacity, and service levels meet or exceed expectationsLead supplier negotiations, contract development, rate implementation, and ongoing supplier performance reviewsDrive compliance to International’s Sourcing Policy and VW processesFocus on continuous improvement of current processes, systems, data quality, and supplier management practicesMinimum RequirementsBachelor's degree and at least 2 years of purchasing/procurement experienceORMaster's degree and at least 1 year of purchasing/procurement experienceORAt least 5 years of purchasing/procurement experienceAdditional RequirementsQualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
