- Performing thorough patient evaluations, recommending diagnostic tests, and crafting personalized care strategies
- Diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions either collaboratively with a physician or independently based on credentials
- Teaching patients and their families about prevention, wellness, and effective management of health issues
- Prescribing medications and treatment plans within your scope of practice
- Engaging in patient follow-up and chronic care management to promote long-term health
- Working alongside interdisciplinary teams to provide integrated and comprehensive care
- Maintaining accurate and detailed records within electronic medical systems
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
- Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- A valid Nurse Practitioner license in Virginia
- National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C, AANP, or ANCC) or similar specialty
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications (or the ability to acquire them in 90 days)
- A blend of strong clinical skills and an empathetic approach to patient care
- Clear and effective communication abilities with patients, families, and colleagues
