Job Summary

Location: Methodist Hospital Address: 8303 Dodge St. Omaha, NE Schedule: 11am-11pm or 12p-12a Our Emergency Department is equipped and staffed to provide rapid, expert care for the most critically ill or injured patients. This specialized area contains the advanced equipment and highly trained professionals needed to respond to immediately life-threatening conditions, where every second matters. We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses who thrive in fast-paced, high-acuity settings and are committed to delivering exceptional, lifesaving care.

Job Requirements

Education

• Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited college of nursing required OR obtained within 5 years from date of hire for nurses with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• NIH Stroke Scale training required by the end of orientation.
• Successful completion of annual mandatory education requirements.

Experience

• If the specialty is not listed, no prior experience is required:
• Experience preferred:
• MWH Emergency: 2 years of nursing experience.
• MWH Emergency: Emergency Department (ED) or Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience.

License/Certifications

• Required:
• Current valid Nebraska Registered Nurse (RN) License, valid compact multistate license to work in Nebraska, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure.
• Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
• Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) required within two years.
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) required within two years.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Preferred:
• Certification(s) in area of specialty from National Certification Corporation (NCC) within 1 year of eligibility.
• NMH Emergency: Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) and Certified Emergency Nursing (CEN).

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Strong interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and interact with patients, family members, hospital personnel, and co-workers.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments.
• Ability to learn, retain, and utilize computer skills that are required for department and hospital information system.
