Family Intervention Specialist Position Type: Early Childhood Services – Classified / Family Intervention Specialist Date Posted: 6/1/2026 Location: Jackson County Family Support and Connections (FS&C) is seeking a Family Intervention Specialist to join our team. FS&C services are designed to strengthen families so they can thrive and become self‑reliant. Specialists build trusting relationships, recognize challenges that impede growth, and help families identify strengths to move forward. They work collaboratively with community agencies to tailor assistance to individual families’ needs. Position Goal Provide individual and/or group assessment, career/life planning, self‑sufficiency planning, barrier removal, and intervention services. Duties and Responsibilities Meet with participants individually and/or in groups to identify barriers related to housing, transportation, substance abuse, domestic violence, addictions, mental health, employment, and self‑sufficiency. Refer and assist participants in obtaining community resources to address identified barriers. Help participants develop functional life skills to manage health, addictions, childcare, finances, and relationships; provide ongoing support and follow‑up. Provide communication skills training to improve relationships with family, friends, coworkers, and employers. Deliver one‑on‑one and group training on child development, stress management, self‑regulation, and other social skills. Facilitate support groups to build individuals’ support networks. Provide services in schools, DHS offices, community organization facilities, and program offices. Transport participants to appointments; attend or coordinate appointments as needed. Assess participant service needs through interviews, testing, and observation; create or recommend plans to overcome assessed needs. Complete written individual plans; coordinate service strategies with community providers; enter data in TRACS and other relevant systems. Manage individual caseload within program parameters such as budget, service plan, performance plan, regulations, policies, and recordkeeping requirements. Attend ongoing meetings with SOESD and community partners to refine plans and services. Communicate clearly and appropriately. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with SOESD staff, local education agency representatives, and other partners. Follow established SOESD policies and procedures. Perform physical requirements unaided or with reasonable accommodation. Perform other duties as assigned. Hold a valid Oregon driver’s license. Knowledge of interpersonal counseling, coaching practices, employment and training programs, and community resources. Knowledge of healthy parenting practices and child development. Excellent self‑management skills and initiative; able to work independently within guidelines. Proficiency with a variety of computer programs and the internet. Demonstrated effective communication, teamwork, and professionalism. Preferred Qualifications Degree in early childhood education, social work, counseling, or related field preferred. Experience in early childhood or K‑12 education preferred. Mentoring and coaching experience preferred. Employment Details Location: In person at 918 Chevy Way, Medford, OR 97504 Length of Position: 1.0 FTE / 258 days (Full‑year annual position) Salary: Southern Oregon ESD classified salary schedule ($22.49‑$26.93 per hour for 2026‑2027) Immediate Supervisor: Program Administrator SOESD Benefits (For .50 FTE and Over) Health, dental, and vision insurance premiums up to $2,185.00 per month for family coverage.
