Assignment Length: 13 Weeks (Travel Contract) JOB DESCRIPTION:
Seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment at a Level I Trauma and Neuro academic medical center. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of OR/surgical experience with demonstrated expertise in neurosurgery, spine, complex orthopedics/ortho-spine, and complex general surgery (including bariatric). Prior travel experience is preferred. BCLS is required; Epic EMR experience is preferred. Candidates must hold a valid compact or Ohio RN license at time of submission and graduate from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program. Strict Tier 4 compliance deadlines apply, including urgent Ohio fingerprinting upon contract signing.


Responsibilities:
• Provide perioperative nursing care for complex surgical cases in neurosurgery, spine, complex ortho/ortho-spine, and complex general surgery (including bariatric).
• Maintain sterile technique, patient safety, and adherence to OR protocols in a high-acuity Level I Trauma and Neuro environment.
• Operate efficiently within the surgical team, collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia, and support staff.
• Accurately document procedures, counts, and patient information in Epic (preferred EMR).
• Participate in on-call rotation, weekend coverage, and holiday scheduling as required.
• Respond effectively to emergency and trauma situations.
• Comply with all credentialing, licensing, vaccination (flu required), and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate records and follow radiation safety, infection control, and facility protocols.


Required Qualifications:
• Minimum 3 years of Operating Room / Surgical RN experience.
• Active, valid compact or Ohio RN license in hand at time of submission.
• BLS (BCLS) certification – Required.
• Graduation from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program.
• Demonstrated experience in: Neurosurgery, Spine, Complex Ortho/Ortho Spine, and Complex General Surgery (including Bariatric).
• Ability to work night shifts (18:30–07:00), weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations.
• Strong communication, critical-thinking, and teamwork skills.
• Willingness and ability to complete urgent Ohio fingerprinting and meet Tier 4 compliance deadlines.


Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior travel nursing experience.
• Epic EMR proficiency.
• Experience in ENT, GU, Plastics, or Burns.
