Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of Medical Surgical experience preferred License: Valid RN license required Certifications: BLS (AHA) Required, NIHSS Required or willingness to complete certification Must-Have: Willingness to work every other weekend and float to other units Description: We are seeking a Registered Nurse for a Medical Surgical unit specializing in neurological disorders. The unit cares for patients with conditions such as Stroke, Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, and other inflammatory disorders of the brain and spinal cord. There is a significant population of patients undergoing spinal surgeries, including post-operative care for neuro-surgery and spinal fusions. Our unit also features telemetry beds and provides care for a diverse patient population. We have a specialized Neuro Monitoring Unit for patients with seizures starting from age 5. Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:4 or 1:5. Familiarity with EPIC and Pyxis systems is advantageous. There are no holiday requests, but dates may be discussed with management. Floating to other Medical Surgical Units, ICU, and ED waiting rooms may be required.
