Legal Assistant

Our busy legal firm is looking for an efficient, organized legal assistant to help our attorneys and paralegals assist clients and ensure we’re operating efficiently. You’ll assist with the preparation of legal documents, and handle all office correspondence, including answering phone calls and emails, arranging meetings and travel, and reminding the team of upcoming deadlines. Responsibilities: • Handle office correspondence and administrative tasks such as responding to emails and phone calls, communicating with opposing attorney offices, taking dictation, and letting the team know about upcoming deadlines • Ensure client billing is processed properly using daily time records with assistance from the accounting department • Accept other administrative tasks as needed to assist the team and ensure the firm runs smoothly • Complete legal research as needed under the supervision of attorneys and paralegals • Arrange travel, schedule meetings and appointments for the team, such as depositions, and coordinate with outside vendors for events • Communicate with potential clients • Perform intakes • Setup files • Contact all relevant parties • Resolve Property Damage & basic issues • Transfer files Qualifications: • Some knowledge of legal software, case management, and docketing programs • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a law firm or office environment as an administrative assistant or secretary • Candidates should be able to type at least 50 words per minute • Ability to comfortably use all Microsoft Office products • Associate’s degree, or some college is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is necessary Compensation: $40,000 - $60,000 yearly
