Position Overview

The WH Bass Project Accounting Internship is intended to provide practical experience within a commercial construction company while exposing participants to multiple areas of the business.

The program combines hands-on project work, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to help participants build accounting, finance, and business experience in a real-world environment. Based on business needs, participants may work with project teams, accounting staff, operations personnel, and company leadership throughout the semester.

Key Responsibilities

Participants will gain exposure to the financial management of active construction projects, including:

• Job cost tracking and reporting
• Budget-to-actual analysis
• Subcontractor invoice processing
• Customer billings
• Change order management
• Project financial forecasting

Corporate Accounting & Reporting

Participants may also support broader accounting and finance activities, including:

• Month-end close activities
• Journal entries
• Account reconciliations
• Financial statement preparation
• Variance analysis
• Internal management reporting

Process Improvement & Technology

The program is designed to provide exposure to ongoing improvement initiatives, including:

• Process documentation
• Workflow improvement projects
• Excel-based automation
• Reporting and data analysis
• System optimization efforts

Professional Development

In addition to technical experience, participants may have opportunities to:
