We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join our finance team. In this mid-level role, you will handle day-to-day accounting operations, support financial analysis, and assist with government contract financial tracking. You will work closely with senior management to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with GAAP and federal guidelines. This is an individual contributor role with strong growth potential.

Key Responsibilities
 
Accounting Operations

• Perform daily accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable processing, accounts receivable tracking, and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly journal entries and supporting schedules to assist with financial statement preparation.
• Support the month-end close process by ensuring timely and accurate account reconciliations.
• Maintain clean financial records in accordance with GAAP.
• Assist with routine cash management and cash flow monitoring.
• Gather documentation and provide support to external auditors during annual financial audits.
• Assist in preparing payroll, sales tax filings, and other required regulatory reports.

Financial Analysis & Support

• Help prepare monthly financial reports and budget-to-actual variance analyses.
• Provide data and tracking support for annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
• Monitor departmental and project expenditures to identify trends or anomalies.
• Maintain financial models, spreadsheets, and routine reports to support management decision-making.

 
Government Contract Tracking

• Update financial tracking reports related to government contracts and projects.
• Monitor labor hours and project expenditures to ensure correct allocation and compliance.
• Assist senior team members in ensuring adherence to FAR, CAS, and DCAA requirements.
• Partner with Project Managers to review and update project cost reports and labor utilization data.

 
Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2 to 4 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Solid foundational understanding of GAAP.
• Direct experience with general ledger management and month-end close processes.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables).
• Experience using professional accounting ERP systems.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

 
Preferred Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a CPA or CMA designation.
• 1+ years of experience working within a government contracting environment.
• Familiarity with FAR, CAS, and DCAA guidelines.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV or similar ERP software.
• Exposure to Power BI or comparable reporting tools.
