Embedded Software Engineer, C/C++ & Python

Salary: $109,426 - 225,000 per year Requirements:

• We are looking for a senior or principal-level software engineer, with mechatronics experience also considered.
• We need strong experience developing embedded software for UAVs or autonomous systems using C/C++, Python, MATLAB, or similar languages.
• We value deep knowledge of embedded systems, including ARM-based firmware, microcontrollers, RTOS environments, and real-time software.
• Experience with FPGA development workflows and hardware description languages such as VHDL or Verilog is highly beneficial.
• Familiarity with sensor integration, including LiDAR, IMUs, and cameras, as well as perception-oriented signal processing and algorithm design, is important.
• Hands-on background with hardware/software integration, PCB design tools, soldering, and troubleshooting using diagnostic equipment such as logic analyzers is desirable.
• Knowledge of communication protocols, RESTful APIs, JSON, databases, scripting, cloud platforms, and Agile development practices is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and debugging skills for complex embedded systems are expected.
• A PhD is a significant plus.
• Experience with the PX4 stack is a strong advantage.
• Experience with UML, Simulink, Git-based version control, and CI tools such as Jenkins is helpful.

• We develop and maintain embedded software for UAVs and autonomous systems.
• We design and implement navigation, perception, sensor fusion, machine learning, and signal-processing algorithms to improve autonomous capability.
• We integrate microcontrollers, FPGAs, sensors, PCB hardware, and other embedded components into unified software solutions.
• We collaborate across disciplines to define system requirements, create UML diagrams, and shape software architecture.
• We perform debugging, unit testing, firmware validation, and troubleshooting across Linux, RTOS, and custom embedded platforms.
• We optimize software for real-time performance using knowledge of OS kernels, ARM architecture, logic analyzers, and embedded interfaces.
• We document algorithms, system specifications, API designs, and troubleshooting procedures.
• We deploy autonomy algorithms to UAV platforms and contribute to creating and enhancing those capabilities.
• We support flight testing in interesting locations.
