Job Title: Warehouse Worker Job Description

The warehouse worker receives, stores, and issues materials, equipment, and other items within a stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard. This role focuses on accurate inventory handling, safe material movement, and maintaining a clean, organized storage environment to support efficient operations and timely order fulfillment.

• Receive incoming stock items, count quantities accurately, and record data manually or using computer systems.
• Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards.
• Verify inventory records by comparing system data to physical counts of stock and investigate discrepancies or correct errors as needed.
• Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other designated areas.
• Mark stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, RF scanners, or other labeling equipment to ensure clear identification.
• Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations and facility standards.
• Keep accurate records of stock usage, damage, and stock handling equipment to support inventory control and reporting.
• Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects and promptly report any damage or quality issues to supervisors.
• Provide assistance, guidance, or direction to other stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard workers to support team productivity.
• Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock locations based on turnover, environmental factors, and facility capabilities.
• Perform inventory, picking, material handling, packing, and order picking activities using RF scanners and other warehouse tools.
• Work in various departments performing tasks such as manually opening items, filling containers, checking orders, and placing orders as assigned.
• Maintain a strong sense of urgency and purpose when handling orders to support timely shipment of critical prescriptions.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills to follow instructions, document inventory, and communicate with team members.
• Analytical and problem-solving ability to identify inventory discrepancies and resolve issues efficiently.
• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively and support a cooperative work environment.
• High attention to detail to ensure accurate counting, labeling, and storage of materials.
• Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies that support effective security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
• Ability to use inventory tools and technology such as RF scanners and computer-based inventory systems.
• Willingness to work a flexible shift schedule, including various days and start times.
• Ability to stand for at least 8 hours with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including pushing, pulling, grasping, and lifting with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to carry up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5–7 years of relevant warehouse, stockroom, or material handling experience required.

• Experience with inventory management, picking, packing, and material handling in a warehouse or distribution environment.
• Familiarity with RF scanner use for picking and inventory tracking.
• Comfort working in multiple departments performing tasks such as opening items, filling containers, checking orders, and placing orders.
• Understanding of safety regulations and best practices in a warehouse setting.
• Ability to maintain organization and cleanliness in work areas.
• Reliability and commitment to meeting deadlines, particularly in environments where timely order fulfillment is critical.

The work takes place in a climate-controlled, clean warehouse facility designed for comfort and efficiency. The environment is casual, with a laid-back atmosphere that allows employees to have one earbud in to listen to music while they work. Phones may be carried in pockets but must not be used on the floor; repeated violations of this policy can result in termination. The dress code permits jeans, khakis or dress pants, capri pants (no shorter than mid-calf), scrubs, t-shirts, polo shirts, sneakers, closed-toe shoes, leggings, sweatpants, spandex pants, and jackets, hoodies, and sweaters without pockets. Clothing must not include inappropriate words or graphics. Sleeveless shirts, shorts, scarves or dangling jewelry, jackets, hoodies, or sweaters with pockets, hats or head coverings, ripped clothing that shows skin, exposed midriffs, and pajama pants are not allowed. Work is performed on flexible shifts, including options such as Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.; Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; and Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Employees stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks such as opening items, filling containers, checking orders, and placing orders using RF scanners and other warehouse tools. This is a Contract position based out of Mechanicsville, VA.

The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $15.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
